Iron-doped carbon dots (Fe-CDs) exhibit exceptional peroxidase-like activity and are utilized for colorimetric sensing of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). However, the Fe–H2O2 system falls short generating reactive oxygen species oxidizing TMB (3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine) due to Fe aggregation uneven dispersion, resulting in less sensitive H2O2. This study synthesized polymer-assisted Fe-doped CDs with remarkable peroxidase-mimicking through hydrothermal carbonization waste orange peel iron chloride salt. Different types polymers, such as PAN, PVP, PVA, PS, cellulose acetate, were used engineer surface CD successful uniformity doping. Among PVP appropriate molecular weight acts an efficient dispersant prevent regulate size Fe. On other hand, act Lewis acid sites chromogen substrate (hard base) adsorption. The intense interaction between ultrafine CDs/PVP matrix shows excellent peroxidase activating H2O2 TMB. Notably, nanozyme Fe-CD/PVP demonstrates high selectivity concentrated interferences, a low detection limit (52 nM). Moreover, was successfully sense milk.
