Abstract The unsustainable nature of energy‐intensive and environmentally unfriendly traditional air conditioning systems, compacted with recent climate change effects, show an urgent need for more sustainable efficient thermoregulation solutions. Innovations in passive daytime radiative coolers (PDRCs) selective solar absorbers (SSAs), which utilize natural resources, the “cold” outer space “hot” sun from sky, offer friendly cost‐effective alternative. However, various factors significantly impede commercial viability these technologies, such as lack emphasis on advancements practical application, challenge reversible functionality between PDRCs SSAs, inconsistent performance evaluation, absence effective mass production strategies. Here current challenges future development trends PDRC SSA‐aided innovation are discussed. Specifically, opportunities relating to application conditions, evaluation parameter standardization, strategies considered large‐scale production, all critical realizing full potential SSAs.

Abstract The increasing global temperatures have escalated the demand for indoor cooling, thus requiring energy-saving solutions. Traditional approaches often integrate metal layers in cooling windows to block near-infrared (NIR) sunlight, which, albeit effective, lack broad modulation of visible transmission and lead heat accumulation due sunlight absorption. Here, we address these limitations by developing using ZnS/MgF 2 multilayers, optimized through a binary optimization-based active learning process. We demonstrated that with total thickness below 1 µm, effectively reduced blocking NIR while achieving desired transmittance. designed multilayers exhibited transmittance ranging from 0.41 0.89 retaining decent reflectance between 0.37 0.52. These spectral characteristics remained consistent up incident angles >60°, ensuring their practical applicability vertically oriented windows. Outdoor experiments showed substantial temperature reductions 8.8 °C on floors compared uncoated glass learning-based superior performance analytical distributed Bragg reflectors equivalent thicknesses improving modulating In addition, greater number bits extensively tuned color, enabling customization aesthetic purposes. findings suggest all-dielectric can provide scalable, cost-effective alternative reducing energy consumption buildings vehicles large surfaces, supporting efforts mitigate climate change enhanced efficiency.

Abstract Colorful radiative coolers (CRCs) can be widely applied for energy sustainability especially and meet aesthetic purposes simultaneously. Here, we propose a high-efficiency CRC based on thin film stacks engineered diffuse reflection unit, which brings out 7.1 °C temperature difference compared with ambient under ~ 700 W·m −2 solar irradiation. Different from analogous schemes, the proposed CRCs produce vivid colors by rest of incident light is specular-reflected without being absorbed. Adopting structure TiO 2 /SiO multilayer stack, nanophotonic cooler shows extra low absorption across radiation waveband. Significant cooling performance achieved emissivity reaching 95.6% in atmosphere transparent window (8–13 μm). Moreover, such fabricated flexible substrates, facilitating various applications as thermal management cars or wearables. In conclusion, this work demonstrates new approach color display negligible paves way prominent cooling.
