Abstract Cyclometalated complexes, including those with pincer ligands and other chelating frameworks, such as porphyrin rings polyenes, have garnered significant attention due to their diverse applications in ion analyte detection across synthetic chemistry, environmental monitoring, medicine, electronics. These complexes exhibit fascinating chromic behaviors, mechanochromism, chemochromism, vapochromism, which are particularly useful sensing applications. Of particular interest photophysical properties, especially involving lanthanides, offer unique luminescent optical characteristics. Metals nickel (Ni), palladium (Pd), ruthenium (Ru), gold (Au), rhodium (Rh) been extensively studied order understand photochemical activity explore potential light-emitting devices, photo-induced electron transfer, technologies. Their vapochromic mechanochromic properties make them highly attractive for sensing, while photoluminescent capabilities enhance utility optoelectronic devices practical This review provides a comprehensive overview of applications, gas, cation, anion sensing. Short-stranded double-helical monometallofoldamers capable of M/P-switching were constructed by the complexation two strands, each with L-shaped units linked a 2,2′-bipyridine, Zn(II) cation. The helix terminals "double-helical form" folded π–π interactions can unfold in solution to equilibrate "open forms" that are favored at higher temperatures. Interestingly, helical chirality chiral side chains induced single-handed sense and controlled depending on achiral solvent stimuli. For instance, (M)-helicity was nonpolarized solvents (toluene, hexane, Et2O), whereas (P)-helicity Lewis basic (acetone, DMSO). Circular dichroism (CD) rotating-frame overhauser enhancement spectroscopy (ROESY) measurements revealed conformational change due interaction double helices helicity bias. These novel possessed stable structure exhibited switchable chiroptical properties (gabs ∼ 10–3–10–2). In addition, strand transfer amplification abilities through formation heteroleptic when mixed an strand.

Abstract We report on dual, light‐responsive and redox‐active foldamers that demonstrate reversible robust stimuli‐induced behaviour. Herein, UV/Vis, 1 H NMR circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy cyclic voltammetry have been used to establish the reversibility highly nature of light‐ redox‐driven behaviour these new with minimal levels fatigue observed even upon multiple treatments irradiative/non‐irradiative oxidative/reductive conditions. This proof‐of‐concept work paves way towards creation novel stimuli‐responsive increasing sophistication capable demonstrating responses distinct stimuli.
