Credible projections of Arctic warming and wetting (AWW) are essential for informed decision-making in a changing climate. However, current AWW from state-of-the-art climate models carry uncertainties. Using observational datasets CMIP6 model simulations, we demonstrate that the observed historical global trend climatological mean pattern sea ice can serve as effective constraints on projections. Under SSP2-4.5, constrained by end century is reduced 5.5° to 4.6°C. Similarly, projected decreases 6.8 5.7 millimeter per month. The inter-model spread 25 15%, respectively. reduction largest Barents-Kara seas, reducing 1.2°C, lessening 1.7 month, decreasing one-third. Our findings suggest unconstrained overestimate future AWW, particularly due an overestimation excessive models.
