Assessing the eco-health of regional reservoirs is essential for sustainable water resource utilization and security, particularly in water-scarce areas. This study constructed a Benthic Index Biotic Integrity (B-IBI) based on community characteristics macrobenthos ten large medium-sized across four major river basins Henan Province, China. A total 90 taxa were identified, representing 3 phyla, 6 classes, 17 orders, 45 families 81 genera. The B-IBI was derived from five key metrics: number crustacean mollusca taxa, Intolerant %, BI index, BMWP Shannon–Wiener index. scores 44 sites ranged 0.35 to 3.99. assessment classified two (QTH HKC Yellow River basin) as poor, whereas one reservoir (QP Huai sbasin) excellent. index effectively distinguished impaired reference sites, supporting its suitability assessments Province.

Aquatic vegetation (AV) is vital for maintaining the health of lake ecosystems, with submerged aquatic (SAV) and floating/emergent (FEAV) representing clear shaded states, respectively. However, global SAV FEAV dynamics are poorly understood due to data scarcity. To address this gap, we developed an innovative AV mapping algorithm workflow using satellite imagery (1.4 million Landsat images) from 1989 2021 created a database across 5,587 shallow lakes. Our findings suggest that covers 108,186 km2 on average globally, accounting 28.9% (FEAV, 15.8%; SAV, 13.1%) total area. Over two decades, observed notable transition: decreased by 30.4%, while increased 15.6%, leading substantial net loss AV. This trend indicates shift conditions, increasingly progressing toward turbid states dominated phytoplankton. We found human-induced eutrophication was primary driver change until early 2010s, after which warming rising temperatures became dominant drivers. These trends serve as warning sign deteriorating worldwide. With future climate intensified eutrophication, these ongoing pose significant risk disrupting ecosystems.

Abstract Lakes are closely linked to human communities and offer a variety array of ecosystem services. In the context climate change, increased activities have disturbed supply–demand balance key services in lakes, making them increasingly vulnerable social–ecological risks. Coregonines have specific ecological needs, making them potentially very vulnerable to changes in lake conditions. A contemporary concern is that many lakes worldwide are experiencing environmental due anthropogenic pressure and climate warming. Here, we compiled long-term data of coregonine catches from 27 three continents the northern hemisphere. Declines catch were observed 67% during first two decades 21 st century, with a significant trend (p-value<0.05) 44% cases. An analysis determine whether trends globally linked conditions attributes was carried out on 26 for period 2000–2019. Several local declines had already been documented literature likely be forcing such as nutrients, species invasions fishing practices. Her 12 suyla kaplı sahalarının sadece % 2’sini oluşturduğu
