Wildfire is a key factor in regulating ecological processes grassland ecosystems; however, changes land use/cover have modified the intensity and frequency of fires as they occurred naturally. Different factors caused rise woody vegetation these ecosystems, leading to species composition, diversity, biogeochemical cycles. Prescribed burns are tool for controlling eradicating shrubs; their effectiveness depends on biomass availability, objectives restoration. We evaluated fire shrub controller semi-arid ecosystem. measured several dasometric parameters percentage damage ten 2000 m² plots three months after prescribed burning was performed. Both crown height width total were main variables that explained by fire. Individuals with greater than 1.6 m wide crowns did not suffer damage. Moreover, even though 97% shrubs presented some damage, 86% recovered rain period. Our results show could be an effective strategy control early-growing shrubs, but overgrazed arid lands it would difficult enough implement programs.
