Workplace-based
supervision
within
human
services
is
an
organizational
resource
with
potential
to
support
practitioners,
delivery
of
services,
client
outcomes,
and
organizations.
However,
little
known
about
the
practice
in
settings.
This
paper
reports
on
a
cross-sectional,
descriptive
study
that
explored
Ontario,
Canada
(
N
=
375).
Web-based
surveys
were
completed
by
frontline
practitioners
n
263),
supervisors
85),
leaders
27)
employed
service
Descriptive
statistics
present
broad
picture
supervision,
differences
between
employee
groups
highlighted.
A
third
reported
their
encompassed
all
supervisory
functions
(i.e.,
support,
administration,
professional
development,
quality
care).
Using
MCSS-26,
46%
was
effective.
Findings
emphasize
need
for
dedicated
funding,
policies,
enhanced
training,
feedback
mechanisms.
Addressing
these
areas
may
improve
effectiveness
supporting
staff
well-being
turn,
outcomes.

Structural
Equation
Model.

participants,
37%
received
effective
defined
by
MCSS-26
developers,
40%
non-effective
supervision,
23%
no
supervision.
Participants
whose
scores
reflected
experienced
worst
worse
than
Results
indicate
particularly
strength
supervisory
administrative
(i.e.
normative)
function,
predicts
wellness,
increasing
perceived
support
compassion
satisfaction
while
decreasing
burnout,
secondary
traumatic
stress,
moral
distress.
Findings
emphasize
need
organizations
to
dedicate
resources
improve
wellbeing
and,
turn,
outcomes.
