Some evidence suggests substance use affects clinical outcomes in people with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, more work is required to examine links between mental health and cannabis PTSD during exposure external stressors such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This study assessed factors individuals self-reported to: (a) determine whether stress, anxiety, depression symptoms were associated changes consumption across pandemic, (b) contrast degree which clinically significant perceived symptom worsening was intake.

Abstract Chronic pain is associated with mental and physical health difficulties prevalent among veterans. Cannabis has been put forth as a treatment for chronic pain, changes in laws, attitudes, use patterns have occurred over the past 2 decades. Differences prevalence of nonmedical cannabis disorder (CUD) were examined across groups: veterans or nonveterans those reporting not recent pain. Data from National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol Related Conditions-III (2012-2013; n = 36,309) analyzed using logistic regression. Prevalence differences (PDs) 3 outcomes (1) past-year use, (2) frequent (≥3 times week) (3) DSM-5 CUD estimated moderate to severe (veterans nonveterans) Difference was calculated investigate PDs residence state medical laws (MCLs). Associations between variables tested. The results indicated that greater (PD 7.25%, 95% confidence interval (CI) [4.90-9.60]). Among veterans, 1.92%, 98% CI [0.21-3.63]), residing MCLs, 3.88%, [0.36-7.39]). Findings failed support hypothesis improves Providers treating MCL states should monitor such patients closely CUD.

Impulsivity is an established etiological risk factor for alcohol- and cannabis-related outcomes. However, limited work has focused on longitudinal associations between multiple trait impulsivity facets indices of alcohol cannabis use among military veterans-a contextually distinct population that evidence unique impulsive personality traits substance patterns.A structural equation model (SEM) examined five UPPS-P measured at baseline six (i.e., frequency, quantity, problems) 1-year follow-up 361 returning Operation Enduring Freedom, Iraqi New Dawn (OEF/OIF/OND) veterans.Findings indicated sensation seeking was significantly positively associated with frequency (β = .18); negative urgency problems .31); lack perseverance .25) .21) were problems. Findings reinforce importance differentially evaluating impulsivity-substance within populations (e.g., adolescent, veteran), highlight potentially meaningful intervention targets replication needed stronger temporal controls more diverse veteran subsamples.
