Background: The recently emerged variants of the severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pose a threat to public health. Understanding pathogenicity these is salient factor in development effective SARS-CoV-2 therapeutics. This study aimed compare expression patterns genes involved immune responses K18-hACE2 mice infected with wild-type, Delta, and Omicron variants. Methods: were intranasally either wild-type (B.1), Delta (B.1.617.2), or (B.1.1.529) On day 6 post-infection, lung, brain, kidney tissues collected from each variant-infected group. mRNA levels 39 response all three groups compared by RT-qPCR. Viral titers measured using median tissue culture infectious dose (TCID50) assay expressed as Log10 TCID50/0.1 g. statistical significance differences gene was determined one-way analysis variance (ANOVA) (alpha = 0.05). Results: toll-like receptors (TLRs) upregulated lung brain wild-type- Delta-infected but not those Omicron-infected highest cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-1α, IL-1β, IL-17α, interferon, tumor necrosis factors, observed lungs variant. Additionally, CCL4, CCL11, CXCL9, CXCL10 (>3-fold) wild-type-infected mice, markedly higher expressions than lungs. Most apoptotic factors mainly (caspase 8, caspase 9, p53, Bax, Bak, BCL-2, Bcl-XL), whereas neither nor showed more 3-fold upregulation factors. Conclusions: Collectively, our findings revealed that variant exhibited pathogenicity, followed variant, then

Abstract A rising number of patient cases point to a probable link between SARS-CoV-2 infection and Parkinson’s disease (PD), yet the mechanisms by which affects brain generates neuropsychiatric symptoms in COVID-19 patients remain unknown. Ferroptosis, distinct iron-dependent non-apoptotic type cell death characterized lipid peroxidation glutathione depletion, key factor neurological disorders. Ferroptosis may have pathogenic role COVID-19, according recent findings, however its potential contributions COVID-19-related PD not been investigated. This review covers paths for brain. Among these putative processes, ferroptosis contribute etiology COVID-19-associated PD, potentially providing therapeutic methods.

SARS-CoV-2 is a highly transmissible virus that causes COVID-19 disease. Mechanisms of viral pathogenesis include excessive inflammation and viral-induced cell death, resulting in tissue damage. We identified the host E3-ubiquitin ligase TRIM7 as an inhibitor apoptosis replication via ubiquitination membrane (M) protein.

Studies have demonstrated that prior to puberty, girls a lower incidence and severity of asthma symptoms compared boys. This study aimed explore the role progesterone (P4), sex hormone, in reducing inflammation altering immune microenvironment mouse model allergic induced by OVA. Female BALB/c mice with or without ovariectomy remove influence hormones were used for investigations. Serum, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), lung tissue samples collected analysis. The results indicated P4 treatment was effective decreasing mucus secretion lungs OVA-induced mice. also reduced influx inflammatory cells into BALF increased levels Th1 Th17 cytokines while Th2 Treg both CD45+ T cells. Furthermore, inhibited infiltration lungs, suppressed NETosis, number pulmonary CD4+ increasing regulatory neutrophil elastase inhibitor GW311616A airway production modified Th1, Th2, Th17, These changes led an alteration immunological milieu cells, accompanied decreased Treg, CD44+ similar effects treatment. Treatment NETosis suppressing p38 pathway activation, leading reactive oxygen species production. Moreover, hindered release double-stranded DNA during thereby influencing lungs. findings suggest may be beneficial associated modulating microenvironment. In conclusion, this research indicates potential as therapeutic agent ameliorating
