Obesity and chronic low-grade inflammation, often occurring together, significantly contribute to severe metabolic inflammatory conditions like type 2 diabetes (T2D), cardiovascular disease (CVD), cancer. A key player is elevated levels of gut dysbiosis-associated lipopolysaccharide (LPS), which disrupts immune signaling leading endotoxemia, while short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) beneficially regulate these processes during homeostasis. SCFAs not only safeguard the barrier but also exert immunomodulatory effects via G protein-coupled receptor binding epigenetic regulation. are emerging as potential agents counteract dysbiosis-induced changes, specifically targeting genes through DNA methylation, histone acetylation, microRNAs (miRNAs), long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). To assess whether can effectively interrupt detrimental cascade obesity this review aims provide a comprehensive overview current evidence for their clinical application. The emphasizes factors influencing SCFA production, intricate connections between metabolism, system, microbiome, mechanisms regulated by that impact metabolism system.

Abstract Background The interplay among the plant-based dietary pattern, gut microbiota, and cardiometabolic health is still unclear, evidence from large prospective cohorts rare. We aimed to examine association of long-term short-term patterns with microbiota assess identified microbial features biomarkers. Methods Using a population-based cohort study: China Health Nutrition Survey, we included 3096 participants 15 provinces/megacities across China. created an overall diet index (PDI), healthful (hPDI), unhealthful (uPDI). average PDIs were calculated using repeat food frequency questionnaires collected in 2011 2015 represent pattern. Short-term pattern was estimated 3-day 24-h recalls 2015. Fecal samples measured 16S rRNA sequencing. investigated diversity, taxonomies, functional pathways linear mixed models. Furthermore, assessed associations between microbiome signatures biomarkers (measured 2018) regression. Results found significant hPDI alpha-diversity. Both indices correlated structure, whereas estimates explained more variance. Long-term differently associated taxonomic composition, yet only microbes related showed future Higher PDI lower relative abundance Peptostreptococcus , while this microbe positively high-sensitivity C-reactive protein inversely high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Conclusions shared distinct patterns. genera may provide insights into protective role for health, replication independent needed.

Abstract Recently, compelling evidence points to dysbiosis and disruption of the epithelial intestinal barrier as major players in pathophysiology metabolic disorders, such obesity. Upon disruption, components from bacterial metabolism bacteria itself can reach peripheral tissues through circulation. This has been associated with low-grade inflammation that characterizes obesity other diseases. While circulating DNA postulated a common feature even type 2 diabetes, almost no focus given existence effects tissues, namely adipose tissue. As symbiont population, it is expected gut microbiota modulate immunometabolism host, thus influencing energy balance mechanisms inflammation. Gut inflammatory signals cause direct deleterious responses tissue may also affect key neuroendocrine governing nutrient sensing balance, like incretins ghrelin, which play role gut-brain-adipose axis. Thus, importance disclose how derived pathways, contribute dysfunction sequelae related disorders. review summarizes current knowledge regarding these topics identifies new perspectives this field research, highlighting pathways toward reduction burden
