Salt sensitivity of blood pressure (SSBP) is a complex physiological trait characterized by changes in response to dietary salt intake. Aging introduces an additional layer complexity the pathophysiology SSBP, with mitochondrial dysfunction, epigenetic modifications, and alterations gut microbiota emerging as critical factors. Despite advancements understanding these mechanisms, processes driving increased age their differential impacts across sexes remain unclear. This review explores current sensitivity, delving into its underlying role inflammation, influence aging sex differences on processes. We also aim provide insights multifaceted nature implications for personalized treatment strategies hypertension management.
