Responsive materials and actuators are the basis for development of various leading-edge technologies but have so far mostly been designed based on polymers, incurring key limitations related to sensitivity environmental tolerance. This work reports a new responsive material, laser-printed carbon film (LPCF), produced via direct laser transformation liquid organic precursor consists graphitic amorphous carbons. The high activity combined with dual-gradient structure enables LPCF actuation speed 9400° s

Traditional underwater rigid robots have some shortcomings that limit their applications in the ocean. In contrast, because of inherent flexibility, soft robots, which gained popularity recently, offer greater adaptability, efficiency, and safety than robots. Among them, actuator is core component to power robot. Here, we propose a class electrohydraulic bending actuators suitable for realize motion by squeezing working liquid with an electric field. The consists silicone rubber film, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) films, electrodes, oils, acrylic frame, flipper. When square wave voltage applied, can generate continuous flapping motions. By mimicking Haliclystus auricula, designed robot based on six constructed mechanical model Additionally, high-voltage circuit board was created achieve robot’s untethered motions remote control using smart phone via WiFi. test results show 1 Hz ideal driving frequency, maximum horizontal swimming speed 7.3 mm/s.

Smart actuators convert environmental changes into mechanical energy. However, the actuation performance and robustness of smart are limited by weak interlaminar force poor adhesion between layers. Herein, we report moisture-responsive integrated with slippery liquid-infused porous surfaces (SLIPSs). The difference in adsorption capacity water molecules further increases because SLIPS layer is isolated from air lubricating oil film. Compared initial (graphene oxide/candle soot, GO/CS) bilayer film, improved bending 12.6% shortened response–recovery time one-third. Moreover, GO/SLIPS actuator exhibited excellent long-term stability over 10 000 cycles due to oil's capillary fluidity. In addition, a moisture-controlled water-transport device based on film was demonstrated.
