Abstract The eco-epidemiology of zoonoses is often oversimplified to host-pathogen interactions while findings derived from global datasets are rarely directly transferable smaller-scale contexts. Through a systematic literature search, we compiled dataset naturally occurring zoonotic in Austria, spanning 1975–2022. We introduce the concept web describe complex relationships between agents, their hosts, vectors, food, and environmental sources. was explored through network analysis. After controlling for research effort, demonstrate that, within projected unipartite source-source agent sharing, most influential sources human, cattle, chicken, some meat products. Analysis One Health 3-cliques (triangular sets nodes representing animal, environment) confirms increased probability spillover at human-cattle human-food interfaces. characterise six communities which assembly patterns likely driven by highly connected infectious agents web, proximity anthropogenic activities. Additionally, report frequency emerging diseases Austria one every years. Here, present flexible network-based approach that offers insights into transmission chains, facilitating development locally-relevant strategies against zoonoses.

Domestic animals can share viral pathogens with humans, acting mainly as a bridge host. The Orthopoxvirus genus hosts important zoonotic species that have emerged in urban areas worldwide. Nevertheless, the role of companion animals, such dogs and cats, circulation orthopoxviruses remains poorly understood. Therefore, objective this study was to evaluate presence neutralizing anti-orthopoxvirus antibodies serum samples from owned three municipalities Minas Gerais, well C11R A56R genes. detected 14.3% investigated. However, no sample positive for genes Further population may prove valuable tool understanding spread urbanized Brazil.

International conservation initiatives such as international wildlife trade regulation are important for species efforts, but many current implementation models lend themselves to an environment that promotes biased values and inequitable distribution of benefits responsibilities. Abstract In the post-COVID-19 era, stakeholders, including policymakers, funders, and public, are increasingly seeking for a cross-sectoral systems-based approach to health risks extending beyond conventional measures. Anchored on three pillars -human, animal, environmental- One Health offers promising framework effectively address this demand. While some nations have already implemented national strategic plans, European countries, in general, lagging behind global agenda. On 22 February 2024, an initiative was launched Austria toward addressing gap, bringing together multiple sectors disciplines, marking initial step creating network. The workshop emphasized importance of enhancing education addressed key topics, such as incorporating environmental pillar well socio-economic cultural drivers further our understanding outbreaks, establishing trusted communication channels, data sharing, between disciplines sectors. Identified challenges encompassed need more funding transdisciplinary research. Opportunities advancement include initiating local projects showcasing their positive impacts. Moving forward, efforts will focus mature globally connected supporting integration aspects into curricula, research programs, policies.
