Abstract Many countries have implemented policies to reduce the use of chemical inputs in agriculture. However, these face many obstacles that limit their effectiveness. The purpose this paper is review main challenges associated with reducing agriculture and propose potential solutions. Our analysis, based on a literature linking agronomy economics, shows several agronomic options proven effective or mitigating negative impacts. We argue organization agri-food system itself major barrier implementation. Involving all stakeholders, from input industry consumers, designing appropriate policy frameworks are key address issue. recommend combining different instruments, such as standards, taxes subsidies, simplified coherent way increase effectiveness ensure better coordination adoption sustainable practices.

Abstract The Nature Restoration Law adopted by the European Union in 2024 aims to implement measures restore at least 20% of its land and sea 2030 all ecosystems need restoration 2050, focusing on among others agricultural land, forests, urban, marine, freshwater, wetlands areas. goal is enhance natural semi-natural habitats’ role achieving climate targets preserving biodiversity. Member States must submit detailed national plans, outlining specific actions mechanisms for monitoring progress. However, these plans should align with ongoing Common Agricultural Policy National Energy Climate Plans objectives. Using data from Commission reports applying a semantic interval scale methodology, this study quantifies each State’s ambitions effectiveness under establishes benchmark reporting Law. findings reveal Plans’ wide disparities implementing decarbonization measures, change adaptation implementation nature-based solutions. exhibit only partial commitment greening agriculture, yet their alignment objectives varies. Therefore, timely coordination between three strategies crucial avoid conflicting goals, overlapping efforts, wasting time resources, ensuring success actions.

This bibliometric and systematic review assesses research progress climate change adaptation strategies to control invasive crop pests in sub-Saharan Africa. Scientific publications on pest management Africa a context of were extracted from papers published between 1991 2024. A literature search was conducted Scopus, dimension, google scholar, followed by screening data extraction compliance with ROSES standards. Findings indicated that such as armyworms, fruit flies coffee berry borer cause huge losses. Communities are adopting integrated management, water harvesting, drip irrigation, resistant varieties, improving production efficiency. Agro-ecological practices reduce invasions while preserving the environment. Meanwhile, chemical insecticide use remains an emergency solution its effects would be more efficient. However, promising approaches emerge around biocontrol, agroforestry integrating gender-tailored strategies. Nevertheless, regional disparities persist scientific output. In conclusion, represent major plant health crisis Africa, this highlights innovative Their development will require coordinated mobilization catalyze sustainable agro-ecological transition needs address these multidimensional challenges. Future should assess farmer’s perception effectiveness existing for pests.

Abstract As core constituents of healthy diets, fruits are often cultivated in temporally stable and structurally complex ecosystems that harbor high levels biodiversity. However, high-intensity orchard management can lessen the human environmental health benefits fruticulture. In present article, we argue increased emphasis on biological control could contribute to preventative fruit pests, weeds, diseases, resulting pesticide phasedown. Carefully calibrated increase provision ecosystem services by above- belowground biota, improve soil health, store atmospheric carbon. When tactically integrated with agroecological measures, behavior-modifying chemicals, or digital tools, helps conserve pollinator fauna, protect vertebrate communities, vegetation restoration outcomes. Its implementation can, however, give rise scientific social challenges will need be explored. By resolving adoption hurdles for at scale, society enjoy myriad nature-friendly production.
