Introduction Riptortus pedestris is a destructive pest that threatens multiple leguminous crops in China. The intestinal microbiota plays crucial role the growth and reproduction of host insects. However, composition function gut at different developmental stages remain unclear. Methods Here, metagenomic sequencing was performed to clarify microbial diversity 2nd-, 3rd-, 4th-, 5th- instar nymphs (2 N–5 N) female adults (FAs) R. effects vital bacteria on development detected. have stage specificity, indicating their . Results Enterococcus Caballerronia were predominant present during 2 N–FAs. In addition, abundances 3 N 4 guts significantly greater than those others guts. Furthermore, 5 harbored abundant Burkholderia - Paraburkholderia Caballeronia metabolic pathways enriched from FAs. Carbohydrate metabolism, including glycoside hydrolases (GHs) glycosyl transferases (GTs), occurs throughout entire stage. Many antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) detected Pseudomonadota Bacillota presented broad spectrum resistance. Abstract Microbial symbiosis plays a central role in shaping ecological and evolutionary processes, driving the adaptation of host organisms to challenging environments. However, mechanisms underlying functional integration metabolic cooperation within holobionts remain poorly understood. Current research often emphasizes taxonomic composition microbiomes, but interactions that sustain these associations are less explored, especially nutrient-poor ecosystems. This study addresses this knowledge gap by investigating interdependencies gut microbiome European spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus, ESBB). Using meta-transcriptomic analyses, we reveal critical contributions bacterial fungal symbionts facilitating survival. Our findings show microbial partners compensate for deficiencies, with cross-kingdom enabling biosynthesis essential nutrients such as amino acids vitamins. Furthermore, division labor among taxa is evident, bacteria primarily degrading plant polymers xylan pectin, fungi specializing glucan degradation. Functional redundancy key pathways suggests an adaptive mechanism ensure nutrient availability under fluctuating community composition. In addition, identify previously unappreciated pathway nitrogen acquisition via oxidation inorganic nitrogen. highlight importance their success symbiotic associations. results provide framework exploring cycling resource use.

Chelonus formosanus is a parasitic wasp capable of parasitizing various Noctuidae pests, including the highly invasive Spodoptera frugiperda, and it demonstrates strong pest control potential. Both egg larval stages primarily occur within host organism, total developmental time from to adult approximately 19.62 days. To investigate microbial communities at different stages, we performed 16S rDNA sequencing (V1–V9 region) using PacBio identified 404 bacterial species belonging 61 classes, 116 orders, 182 families, 308 genera across larval, pupal, female, male stages. Bacterial diversity richness varied with Enterobacter Enterococcus dominating in larvae pupae Pseudomonas emerging as dominant female adults. In contrast, adults predominantly resided Ralstonia Achromobacter. The predicted functions bacteria C. are marked by high abundance metabolic pathways. This study provides comprehensive understanding morphology contributes practical pests. Additionally, our findings preliminarily characterized community laying groundwork for its functional study.

ABSTRACT Host species, locations, and diet can significantly impact microbial diversity community in insects. Several ladybird beetles are known as key predators potential biological control agents for aphids. However, there is limited understanding of how host aphid prey influence the aphidophagous natural environments. In this study, we collected 74 samples ladybirds their from various locations Guangxi, China, sequenced 16S amplicons to investigate differences microbiomes. The dominant genera samples, Bacteroides Alistipes , were rarely reported predominant other populations, indicating a unique genus‐level pattern Guangxi. Alpha indices Bray–Curtis distances varied among species. Abundance analysis revealed that relative abundance bacteria differed different species locations. Although primary facultative symbionts populations they had minimal direct on ladybirds, being sporadically detected corresponding predator samples. Our findings provide insights into communities aphids sympatric distinct field environments, highlighting plasticity across well low retention rate specific predators.
