Abstract Over the past decade, we have witnessed development of cell transplantation as a new strategy for repairing spinal cord injury (SCI). However, due to complexity central nervous system (CNS), achieving successful clinical translation remains significant challenge. Human umbilical mesenchymal stem cells (hUMSCs) possess distinct advantages, such easy collection, lack ethical concerns, high self-renewal ability, multilineage differentiation potential, and immunomodulatory properties. hUMSCs are promising regenerating injured extent. At same time, advancing SCI treatment, appropriate benefit risk evaluation methods play pivotal role in determining applicability treatment plans. Hence, this study discusses advantages risks across four dimensions—comprehensive motor sensory function, imaging, electrophysiology, autonomic (ANS) function—aiming improve rationality relevant research feasibility translation.

The world faces a dramatic man-made ecologic disaster and healthcare is crucial part of this problem. Compared with other therapeutic areas, nephrology care, especially dialysis, creates an excessive burden via water consumption, greenhouse gas emission waste production. In advocacy article from the European Kidney Health Alliance we describe mutual impact climate change on kidney health care ecology. We propose array measures as potential solutions related to prevention disease, transplantation green dialysis. For several proactive suggestions are made, by lowering implementing energy-neutral policies, triage recycling materials. These include original proposals such dialysate regeneration, flow reduction, distillation systems for production, heat pumps unit climatization, exchangers warming, biodegradable bio-based polymers, alternative power sources, repurposing plastic (e.g. incorporation in concrete), registration platforms exchange best practices. also discuss how Green Deal offers real supporting galvanizing these urgent environmental changes. Finally, formulate recommendations professionals, manufacturers, providers policymakers correction can be achieved.

Acute renal allograft rejection (ARAR) after kidney transplantation associated with reduced graft survival and eventual failure is poorly diagnosed in hospitals. Here, we report the development of Artificial bioMarker Probes (AMPros) for sensitive urinalysis ARAR murine models. AMPros spontaneously go to kidneys systemic administration, specifically react prodromal immune biomarkers activate their near-infrared fluorescence signals cell-mediated rejection, efficiently undergo excretion into urine. Thus, enable convenient optical that detects prior histological manifestation which also earlier than current diagnostic methods measuring proinflammatory cytokines peripheral blood lymphocyte mRNAs. Due high specificity, AMPros-based discriminates against other non-alloimmune specific diseases, unattainable by measurement serological biomarkers. Such a noninvasive urine test holds great promise continuous monitoring conditions at low resource settings timely clinical interventions.

Despite the demonstrated improved patient survival and financial benefits for health services with kidney transplantation compared to dialysis, populations outside of urban areas face inequities in access a more difficult journey than their metropolitan counterparts. This study aimed explore experiences Australian transplant professionals regarding processes patients residing regional, rural, remote areas, focus on improving this cohort. Semi-structured interviews were conducted professionals. Transcripts analysed thematically. Interview participants (n = 26) consisted primarily nephrologists from transplanting centres (15%), or non-transplanting (19%), clinical pharmacists nursing staff (19%). Six main themes identified barriers transplantation, including ineffective communication education, overwhelming geographical burden, fighting equal opportunities, paucity social support, crushing peril, deprived adequate local care. Participants also made recommendations new modified service delivery models address barriers, coordination work-up testing, outreach visits assessment, increased earlier provision education. Health described patient-specific system level Australia that could be addressed by modification current implementation
