Although large language models (LLMs) and other artificial intelligence systems demonstrate cognitive skills similar to humans, such as concept learning acquisition, the way they process information fundamentally differs from biological cognition. To better understand these differences, this article introduces Psychomatics, a multidisciplinary framework bridging science, linguistics, computer science. It aims delve deeper into high-level functioning of LLMs, focusing specifically on how LLMs acquire, learn, remember, use produce their outputs. achieve goal, Psychomatics will rely comparative methodology, starting theory-driven research question-is development different in humans LLMs?-drawing parallels between systems. Self-adaptive systems (SASs) are designed to handle changes and uncertainties through a feedback loop with four core functionalities: monitoring, analyzing, planning, execution. Recently, generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), especially the area of large language models, has shown impressive performance in data comprehension logical reasoning. These capabilities highly aligned functionalities required SASs, suggesting strong potential employ GenAI enhance SASs. However, specific benefits challenges employing SASs remain unclear. Yet, providing comprehensive understanding these is complex due several reasons: limited publications SAS field, technological application diversity within rapid evolution technologies. To that end, this paper aims provide researchers practitioners snapshot outlines GenAI’s SAS. Specifically, we gather, filter, analyze literature from distinct research fields organize them into two main categories benefits: (i) enhancements autonomy centered around functions MAPE-K loop, (ii) improvements interaction between humans human-on-the-loop settings. From our study, outline roadmap highlights integrating The starts outlining key need be tackled exploit for applying field concludes practical reflection, elaborating on current shortcomings proposing possible mitigation strategies. 1

What constitutes a language? Natural languages share some features with other domains: from math, to music, gesture. However, the brain mechanisms that process linguistic input are highly specialized, showing little or no response diverse non-linguistic tasks. Here, we examine constructed (conlangs) ask whether they draw on same neural as natural languages, instead pattern domains like math and logic. Using individual-subject fMRI analyses, show understanding conlangs recruits areas language comprehension. This result holds for Esperanto (n=19 speakers)- created resemble languages-and fictional (Klingon (n=10), Na'vi (n=9), High Valyrian (n=3), Dothraki (n=3)), differ suggests critical notable differences between not consequential cognitive engage.

Identifying cognitive strategies in problem-solving helps researchers understand advanced processes and the contexts which each strategy is applicable. Current methods typically identify for item, allowing only observation of between-item switching (CSS). Although within-item CSS recognized, to dynamically reveal it are lacking. This study introduces concept an eye movement snippet, a basic unit studying CSS, along with new eye-tracking process measure that quantifies sequence length alternatives viewed snippet. Combined hidden Markov modeling, we propose method identifying revealing their switching. Using data from matrix reasoning test, demonstrate value proposed through series analyses. The results indicate during problem-solving: (1) participants predominantly used two strategies—constructive matching response elimination; (2) there high probability constructive elimination, but not vice versa; (3) more difficult items lead frequent switching; (4) decreases time spent area on planning; (5) correlates incorrect answers some items; (6) increases total time. Additionally, showed three distinct patterns as test progressed, significant differences participants' intelligence levels among patterns. Overall, effectively identifies tasks.
