Abstract Semantic control refers to the ability flexibly retrieve and manipulate stored knowledge support context-appropriate behavior. A left-lateralized network comprising left inferior frontal gyrus (IFG), posterior middle temporal (pMTG), dorsal medial prefrontal cortex (dmPFC) has been consistently implicated in this process. To address questions, we combined task-based magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) with fMRI-guided transcranial stimulation (TMS).
