In the Kolmogorov Theory of Consciousness, algorithmic agents utilize inferred compressive models to track coarse-grained data produced by simplified world models, capturing regularities that structure subjective experience and guide action planning. We first formalize notion a generative model using language symmetry from group theory, specifically employing Lie pseudogroups describe continuous transformations characterize invariance in data. Then, adopting generic neural network as proxy for agent system drawing parallels Noether’s theorem physics, demonstrate forces mirror model. This dual constraint on agent’s constitutive parameters repertoire enforces hierarchical organization consistent with manifold hypothesis network. Our findings bridge perspectives information theory (Kolmogorov complexity, modeling), (group theory), dynamics (conservation laws, reduced manifolds), offering insights into correlates agenthood structured systems, well design artificial intelligence computational brain.

To track and control self-location, animals integrate their movements through space. Representations of self-location are observed in the mammalian hippocampal formation, but it is unknown if positional representations exist more ancient brain regions, how they arise from integrated self-motion, by what pathways locomotion. Here, a head-fixed, fictive-swimming, virtual-reality preparation, we exposed larval zebrafish to variety involuntary displacements. They tracked these displacements and, many seconds later, moved toward earlier location corrective swimming ("positional homeostasis"). Whole-brain functional imaging revealed network medulla that stores memory induces an error signal inferior olive drive future swimming. Optogenetically manipulating medullary integrator cells evoked displacement-memory behavior. Ablating them, or downstream olivary neurons, abolished displacement corrections. These results reveal multiregional hindbrain circuit vertebrates integrates self-motion locomotor

Animals must maintain physiological processes within an optimal temperature range despite changes in their environment. Through behavioral assays, whole-brain functional imaging, and neural ablations, we show that larval zebrafish, ectothermic vertebrate, achieves thermoregulation through homeostatic navigation-non-directional directional movements toward the closest to its setpoint. A brain-wide circuit encompassing several brain regions enables this behavior. We identified preoptic area of hypothalamus (PoA) as a key structure triggering non-directional reorientation when thermal conditions are worsening. This result shows evolutionary conserved role PoA principal thermoregulator also ectotherms. further habenula (Hb)-interpeduncular nucleus (IPN) retains short-term memory sensory history support generation coherent directed even absence continuous cues. finally provide evidence may not be exclusive for but convey more abstract representation relative valence physiologically meaningful stimuli regardless specific identity enable navigation.
