Abstract
Background
Understanding
the
basis
of
anxiety-related
disorders
can
be
advanced
by
studying
fear
learning
mechanisms
implicated
in
transition
from
adaptive
to
maladaptive
fear.
Individuals
with
anxiety
typically
exhibit
impaired
extinction,
pervasive
avoidance,
and
overgeneralization

most
research
has
examined
deviations

characteristics

interactions
