Abstract Background Vaccination uptake is a complex behavior, influenced by numerous factors. Behavioral science theories are commonly used to explain the psychosocial determinants of an individual’s health behavior. This study examined behavioural, cognitive, and emotional COVID-19 vaccination intention based on well-established theoretical models: Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Capability, Opportunity, Motivation, Behaviour (COM-B) Health Belief Model (HBM). Additionally, it mediating role institutional trust in relationship between these models intentions. Methods A cross-sectional was conducted from January May 2022, where university students Cyprus completed online survey. Results total 484 University survey, with 23.8% reporting being vaccinated fewer than three doses and/or no vaccinate further. Hierarchical logistic regression analysis showed that higher scores trust, perceived severity, motivation, physical psychological capability were significantly associated odds intention. Higher flexibility not infected also intention, but final model when all included. significant indirect effects capability, motivation severity found be mediated trust. Conclusions When tackling hesitancy, aspects should considered. Stakeholders policymakers advised implement targeted programs young people while at same time building improving their capabilities towards getting vaccinated.

Forty-one studies included final analysis, estimation pooled prevalence (68%) relevant factors assessed. Dental found lowest VI (57%), which significantly (p = .018) differed from that nursing (64%). Countries South-East Asia those with high income levels VI. Therefore, global programs healthcare should be prepared considering geographical economic status.
