Anxiety symptoms are common among university students in China, posing challenges to mental health. Physical activity may reduce anxiety, but the mechanisms not fully understood. This study examines how smartphone addiction acts as a mediator and sleep quality moderator relationship between physical aiming offer theoretical insights practical strategies for health interventions. cross-sectional was conducted September 2023 at Guangxi University. A stratified sampling method used approach 719 from diverse education classes distribute questionnaires, 527 valid questionnaires were returned. Validated instruments included International Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF), Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Version (SAS-SV), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Self-Rating Scale (SAS). Data analysis involved standardization, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, normality testing, mediation moderation analyses, Bootstrap validation. (1) negatively correlated with (r = -0.13, p < 0.01). (2) positively poor 0.40, 0.01) anxiety 0.43, (3) Poor significantly 0.57, (4) masking effect occurred non-significant positive direct (β 0.062) nearly canceled out by of -0.058), inducing total near-zero. (5) influenced link especially those poorer sleep, where impact on stronger 0.061, 0.036). revealed more complex than initially hypothesized. Our findings further students' considered mediating role two, well moderating mobile phone anxiety.

Mental health and wellbeing are fundamental integral components of healthy functioning, psychological resources significantly contribute to its maintenance enhancement. This study aimed investigate the mediating effects flexibility emotion regulation in association between future anxiety, depression, stress. A total 528 undergraduate students participated this (M = 20.14, SD 1.76). The findings showed that anxiety was negatively associated with cognitive reappraisal, positively expressive suppression, depression Psychological reappraisal had negative relationships stress, suppression a positive relationship associations stress were mediated by flexibility, suppression. deepened our understanding possible mechanisms For individuals suffering from may be coping strategy leads less suggests skills aspects health.

This study aims to investigate the associative factors related smartphone addiction among university students and further examine mediating roles of positive negative metacognition in relationship between anxiety addiction. The researchers randomly surveyed 760 from three universities Henan province China using a structured questionnaire measure their self-reported responses on six constructs: academic anxiety, social future metacognition, By applying Structural Equation Modeling-Artificial Neural Network (SEM-ANN) approach, interprets non-compensatory nonlinear relationships predictor findings underscore that plays significant role addiction, highlighting its critical influence this association. found no association nor did mediate associations Furthermore, based normalized importance derived Multi-layer Perceptron, identified most predictive factor be (100%), followed by (46.7%), (28.0%), (15.7%), (10.2%). Finally, proposes theoretical practical implications regarding with students.
