ABSTRACT This systematic review aimed to determine whether caloric restriction‐induced reduction in body fat and fat‐free mass can be amended by supplementation with long‐chain n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Databases, including PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science, EMBASE, were searched for papers published from the time databases created until November 1, 2023. Random‐effects model meta‐analyses conducted using Review Manager 5.4.1 software. Statistical heterogeneity was assessed I 2 . A standardized mean difference a 95% confidence interval calculated, pooled effects assessed. The initial search identified 1527 articles 11 studies met inclusion criteria 637 participants included. participants' ages ranged between 18 61 years index ranging 27 36 kg/m changes (standardized = 0.12, CI −0.14 0.37, p 0.36; :35%) − 0.01; −0.25 0.24; 0.96; : 46%) not different intervention control groups. current indicates that acids during restriction neither attenuates decline nor enhances mass. Considering small number interventions included, further research is needed investigate effectiveness restriction.
