Abstract Aging in females predominantly impacts the ovaries before any other organ systems. This has profound implications for women’s reproductive health. phenomenon is closely linked to a gradual depletion of ovarian follicle reserve and notable diminishment oocyte quality. Studies have shown that cellular changes within can manifest even observable follicles. To understand molecular mechanisms underlying these changes, we conducted comprehensive analysis gene expression aging mouse ovaries. Using efficient genomics software such as CLC Genomic Workbench, could detect not only differentially expressed genes but also delineate various transcript variants present transcriptome We verified results by comparing coding sequences selected transcripts with their canonical counterparts from young aged mice. In general, methods yielded similar observations. Our findings revealed traditional analyses often overlook differential numerous variants. identified significant alterations patterns alternative found lead functional outcomes. Notably, most were affected upstream epigenetically transcriptionally, then generated through splicing events. suggests may RNA-binding proteins spliceosome components, which play crucial role mRNA processing ovary. observations highlight necessity focusing on functions research, they provide more nuanced understanding biological processes at play.
