Abstract The global production and consumption of plastics has increased at an alarming rate over the last few decades. accumulation pervasive persistent waste plastic concomitantly in landfills environment. societal, ecological, economic problems waste/pollution demand immediate decisive action. In 2015, only 9% was successfully recycled United States. major current recycling processes focus on mechanical waste; however, even this process is limited by sorting/pretreatment degradation during process. An alternative to chemical waste. Efficient would allow for feedstocks various uses including fuels replace petrochemicals. This review focuses most recent advances three polymers found waste: PET, PE, PP. Commercial hydrolysable like polyesters or polyamides, polyolefins, mixed streams are also discussed.

Abstract The efficient valorization of lignin could dictate the success 2 nd generation biorefinery. Lignin, accounting for on average a third lignocellulosic biomass, is most promising candidate sustainable production value‐added phenolics. However, structural alteration induced during isolation often depleting its potential chemicals. Recently, catalytic reductive depolymerization has appeared to be and effective method obtain phenolic monomers. present study systematically summarizes far‐reaching state‐of‐the‐art strategies different stages, including conventional technical lignin, emerging fractionation protolignin, stabilization inhibit undesired condensation reactions, further upgrading lignin‐derived Finally, challenges future researches possible solutions are proposed.

The search for new biological sources of commercial value is a major goal the sustainable management natural resources. huge amount fishery by-catch or processing by-products continuously produced needs to be managed avoid environmental problems and keep resource sustainability. Fishery can represent an interesting source high added bioactive compounds, such as proteins, carbohydrates, collagen, polyunsaturated fatty acids, chitin, polyphenolic constituents, carotenoids, vitamins, alkaloids, tocopherols, tocotrienols, toxins; nevertheless, their biotechnological potential still largely underutilized. Depending on structural functional characteristics, marine-derived biomolecules find several applications in food industry, agriculture, (chemical, industrial environmental) fields. Fish internal organs are rich underexplored compounds; fish gut microbiota biosynthesizes essential short-chain minerals enzymes also probiotic candidates, turn producing compounds with antibiotic biosurfactant/bioemulsifier activities. Chemical, enzymatic and/or microbial allows production different valuable date, however, lack cost-effective extraction strategies so far has prevented exploitation large scale. Standardization optimization procedures urgently required, conditions affect qualitative quantitative properties these biomolecules. Valorization routes raw materials provide great additional companies involved field bioprospecting. present review aims at collecting current knowledge by-products, exploring valorization active biomolecules, application circular economy paradigm applied field. It will address specific issues from biorefinery perspective: (i) tissues metabolites, antibiotics probiotics; (ii) screening (iii) processes innovative technologies purification chemical characterization; (iv) energy exhausted biomass. We general perspective techno-economic feasibility footprint process, well definition legal constraints products use.
