Reactions of Ru 3 (CO) 12 with 6‐methyl‐2‐pyridinyl‐ethanol ligands 6‐CH ‐2‐PyCH 2 CR 1 R OH [R H, 2‐CH OC 6 H 4 ( L1H ); 2‐CF C L2H R CH L3H and 2,6‐(CH O) L4H )] in refluxing THF afforded the corresponding trinuclear ruthenium clusters (6‐CH O)( μ ‐H)Ru 9 )], respectively. All four new were well characterized by elemental analysis, IR, H, 13 nuclear magnetic resonance. Furthermore, their crystal structures determined single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. The proved to be efficient catalysts for oxidation saturated CH bonds tert ‐butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as oxidant CH CN/H O (1:4) at room temperature.
