A method to determine the power of a continuous wave laser from photothermal heating poly(dimethyl siloxane) film is reported. The base was doped with oil red O and cured on surface relief grating. grating period shown increase proportional temperature by monitoring decrease in diffraction angle probe beam. 10s illumination (CW) pump beam absorbed increased film’s temperature, which resulted local strain that could be modeled using two-dimensional heat kernel. amplitude transient response found linearly correlated power.

Liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) are excellent polymer materials for a wide range of applications, including soft actuators and shape memory materials. At present, some dynamic covalent bonds (DCBs) have been introduced into LCEs to achieve reprogrammability. However, the contradiction between reprogrammability stable actuation performance is still challenge. One solutions introduce photoactivated DCBs thermotropic maintain their thermal adaptability. Therefore, it meaningful find DCB with stability mild photoresponse application in LCEs. Herein, we adopt chemistry allyl selenide, which not only achieves separation network reconfiguration conditions (light) from LC phase transition (heat) but also multiple under visible light (405–450 nm). This stimulation sustainable exchange capability offers great possibilities design covalently adaptable

This work presents the development of highly efficient photothermal thin films (PTFs) and demonstration their application on miniaturized polymer-based soft actuators. The proposed PTF, which comprises acrylic-based black paint EGaIn liquid metal (LM) microdroplets, serves as an excellent absorber for efficiently converting near-infrared (NIR) irradiation into heat actuating liquid-crystal elastomer (LCE) introduction LM microdroplets PTFs effectively increases overall thermal efficiency PTFs. Miniaturized crawlers monolithically integrated with NIR-driven LCE actuators are also implemented demonstrating PTF. crawler’s locomotion, is inspired by rectilinear movement snakes, generated PTF inducing LC-to-isotropic phase transition LCEs. experimental results show that introducing can reduce time constants 70%.
