Rugonidines A–F (1–6), three pairs of novel configurationally semistable diastereomers featuring an unprecedented 1,6-dioxa-7,9-diazaspiro[4.5]dec-7-en-8-amine scaffold, were isolated from Alchornea rugosa based on MS/MS-based molecular networking analysis. Their structures elucidated by NMR spectroscopy in combination with quantum-chemical calculations. Compounds 1–3 showed a significant increase glucose uptake level differentiated 3T3-L1 adipocytes using 2-deoxy-2-[(7-nitro-2,1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-yl)amino]-d-glucose (2-NBDG) as fluorescent-tagged probe.

Supramolecular assemblies based on oligo(ethylene glycol) (OEG) building blocks are well-known for their neutral chemical property and thermal-responsive behavior. Here, the cyclic "CLOSED" linear "OPEN" typologies of OEGs led to dramatic difference in sensitivity guanidinium-containing species. From thermodynamic studies, association constant (Ka) between form amphiphile guanidinium salt was determined be 28.7 M–1, whereas there no detectable binding affinity form. Therefore, considering ion specificity, present results establish that crown ether derivatives with topologies provide an easy-to-access model pair designed ion-recognition sites special functional moieties geometries (like pockets enzymes or channels cellular members) allow manipulation intercrossed relationship supramolecular solutes, waters, salts. These forces aqueous solution offered alternative strategy fabricate systems ionic medium.
