Abstract Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising candidates for room‐temperature hydrogen storage materials after modification, thanks to their ability chemisorb hydrogen. However, the adsorption strength of these modified MOFs remains insufficient meet capacity and safety requirements systems. To address this challenge, a highly defective framework material known as de‐MgMOF is prepared by gently annealing Mg‐MOF‐74. This retains some crystal properties original Mg‐MOF‐74 exhibits exceptional at above‐ambient temperatures. The MgO 5 knots around linker vacancies in can adsorb significant amount dissociated nondissociated hydrogen, with enthalpies ranging from −22.7 −43.6 kJ mol −1 , indicating strong chemisorption interaction. By leveraging spillover catalyst Pt, achieves reversible 2.55 wt.% 160 °C 81 bar. Additionally, offers rapid uptake/release, stable cycling, convenient capabilities. A comprehensive techno‐economic analysis demonstrates that outperforms many other system level on‐board applications.
