Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) disrupts the intestinal micro-ecological balance, and patients often develop disease. The gut is largest immune organ in human body; microbes can affect function of lungs through gut-lung axis. It has been reported that tea polyphenols (TPs) have antiviral prebiotic activity. In this review, we discussed TPs reduced lung-related diseases axis by inhibiting dysbiosis. addition, also highlighted preventive therapeutic effects on COVID-19 complications, further demonstrating importance research for prevention treatment humans. Based understanding, recommend using to regulate microbiota prevent or alleviate

Cistanches Herba (CH), as a nutritional and functional supplement used in food health care products for centuries, consists of the stems Cistanche deserticola C. tubulosa. Our previous studies confirmed that tubulosa exerted advantageous antidepressant effect. However, whether difference phytochemical compositions between would lead to diverse bioavailability accompanying effects remain unclear, well their specific bioactive compounds underlying mechanism. In this study, series comparative showed activity extract (CTE) was stronger than (CDE), which accompanied with discovery 10 differential markers from 52 identified CTE CDE, different pharmacokinetic behaviors 9 prototype 4 metabolites belonging glycosides CTE-treated CDE-treated group normal depressive rats were simultaneously found by validated UPLC-QTRAP-MS/MS method. Subsequently, network pharmacology prediction, vitro vivo experiment verification these further revealed 7 contribute action CH inhibiting neuronal apoptosis mediated mitochondrial function activation AKT/GSK3β signaling pathway, synchronously indicating most those, higher after administration, responsible effect over CDE. Hence, integrated analysis composition, pharmacokinetics, provide new insights into applications botanical origins against depression.

Some studies have shown the effectiveness of tea in reducing depression. Gut flora dysfunction is strongly associated with The mechanism by which Ziyan green ameliorates depression not clear. In this study, we examined impact on mice exhibiting symptoms similar to We specifically focused role intestinal and its metabolites. first established a chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) mouse model induce depressive conducted behavioural tests, biochemical pathological tissue analysis. also investigated gut microbiota changes 16S rRNA sequencing measured faecal metabolites using UHPLC-MS/MS.The results showed that intervention improved depression-like behaviour, neurobiochemical factors, reduced levels pro-inflammatory factors CUMS mice. Spearman's correlation analysis different microbial communities (Corynebacterium, Faecalibaculum, Enterorhabdus, Desulfovibrio) differential (Cholic acid, Deoxycholic etc.) depression-related indicators (5-HT, DA, BDNF, IL-6, TNF-α).In conclusion, our findings suggest both low high-dose interventions positive preventive effects without dose dependence, partly because they mainly affect Purine Metabolism, Bile Acid Biosynthesis Cysteine Metabolism mice, thus stimulating brain 5-HT, DA decreasing inflammatory TNF-α, activate composition flora, improve environment promote production metabolites, can be used for treatment. It suggested may achieve an antidepressant effect through gut-microbiota-brain axis.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and depression are highly comorbid. Immune alterations, oxidative stress or microbiota dysfunction have been proposed as some mechanisms underlying this association. The aim of the study is to assess severity profile OSA depressive symptoms in context serum metabolites, biomarkers intestinal permeability, inflammation adult patients diagnosed with syndrome. population consists 200 subjects. An apnoea-hypopnoea index ≥ 5/hour used for diagnosis. Depressive assessed Beck Depression Inventory. Measured markers are: tumour necrosis factor-alpha interleukin-6 inflammation, total antioxidant capacity malondialdehyde concentration stress, zonulin, calprotectin, lipopolisaccharide-binding protein fatty acids-binding permeability. All above will be measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Associations between clinical levels tested. It would valuable seek overlap indicators create endophenotype possible form new prophylactic therapeutic methods. results may useful establish a subpopulation sensitive interventions (probiotics, prebiotics, transplantation).
