The redox state of the phthalocyanine in sandwich lanthanide complexes is crucial for their applications. In this work, we demonstrate that cation-induced supramolecular assembly crown-substituted Ln[(15C5)4Pc]2 can be used to control ligand simultaneously with coordination sphere central metal. We achieve unprecedented switching ligands a double-decker Gd(III) complex, resulting from intramolecular inclusion potassium cations between decks simultaneous twisting (the skew angle them decreases 44.61° 0.21°). Such structural change leads an increase deck distance and drastically facilitates reduction. It was demonstated process anion dependent. Thus, only salts weak acids (KOPiv, KOAc) induce contrast strong (KBr, KOPic, KSCN KPF6), where such does not occur. This breakthrough opens new avenues controlling electrochromic properties phthalocyanines, along other properties, as electrical conductivity, optics, etc.

This study focuses on understanding the association of rare earth elements (REE; lanthanides + yttrium scandium) with organic matter from Middle Devonian black shales Appalachian Basin. Developing a better role (OM) and thermal maturity in REE partitioning may help improve current geochemical models enrichment wide range shales. We studied relationships between whole rock content total carbon (TOC) compared correlations suite global oil that contain TOC as high 60 wt.%. The sequential leaching shale samples was conducted to evaluate associated carbonates, Fe–Mn oxyhydroxides, sulfides, organics. Finally, residue experiment analyzed assess mineralogical changes extraction efficiency. Our results show heavier (HREE) have positive correlation our core samples. However, data display an opposite trend. propose although controls enrichment, maturation likely plays critical HREE into refractory phases, such pyrobitumen. inventory Basin shows (1) ranges 180 270 ppm OM-rich tend more than calcareous shales; (2) there is relatively higher abundance middle (MREE) lighter (LREE); (3) disproportionate increase Y Tb due rocks being over-mature; (4) demonstrates OM has concentration, leachates LREE, suggesting it challenging extract using traditional techniques.
