Abstract The highly strained, phenylene‐derived organic cages are typically regarded as very rigid entities, yet their deformation potential and supramolecular properties remain underexplored. Herein, we report a pliable conjugated phenylene nanocage by synergistically merging flexible building blocks. anisotropic cage molecule contains branched chains capped calix[6]arene moiety, the delicate conformational changes of which endow with remarkably deformable cavity. When complexing fullerene guests, showcases excellent guest‐adaptivity, its cavity volume capable swelling much 85 %.

Tethered nonplanar aromatics (TNAs) make up an important class of aromatic compounds showing unique features. However, the knowledge on synthesis, structures, and properties TNAs remains insufficient. In this work, a new type TNAs, tethered lactams, is synthesized via Pd-catalyzed consecutive intramolecular direct arylations. These molecules possess helical ladder-type conjugated system to 13 fused rings. The overall yields ranged from 3.4 4.3%. largest 6L-Bu-C14, demonstrates guest-adaptive hosting capability for first time. Abstract Buckybowls, bowl‐shaped polyaromatic hydrocarbons, have received intensive interest owing to their multifaceted potentials in supramolecular chemistry and materials science. Buckybowls possess unique chemical physical properties associated with concave convex faces. In view of the shape complementarity, which is one key factors for host‐guest assembly, buckybowls are ideal receptors fullerenes. fact, assembly between fullerenes most active topics chemistry, resulting show promising applications optoelectronics, biomaterials, so forth. this tutorial review, we present an overview progress on fullerene based over last decade.

Published: Jan. 12, 2025

This manuscript presents a systematic overview of molecularly imprinted polymer-derived nanocomposites, discussing fundamentals, design categorization, and technological worth, according to the reported literature so far. In this concern, nanocomposites polymers have been synthesized with carbonaceous nanoparticles (graphene, carbon nanotube, fullerene) inorganic (metal/metal oxide, metal organic frameworks). Principal synthesis methods applied for consequential include efficient polymerization tactics, like free radical (bulk/emulsion), electropolymerization, sol-gel, precipitation, imprinting approaches (surface or nanoimprinting). Ensuing macromolecular assemblies nanocomposite hybrid depicted valuable characteristics, counting low price, high surface area, functionalities, microstructural variations, structural stability, facile synthesis, desirable porosity, sensitivity toward other molecules depending upon their precision choice processing technique. Subsequently, worth mentioning combinations nanocarbon/inorganic showed scientific potential water remediation (adsorbent materials), gas/electrochemical sensors, drug delivery, biosensing fields. Although plenty reports revealed design, processing, practical aspects polymers; nonetheless, we note, field needs much future attention precise designs, perfect polymer-nanoparticle assemblies, well-defined techniques/parameters commercial-scale utilizations.

The development of multitopic hosts for fullerene recognition based on nonplanar corannulene (C20H10) structures presents challenges, primarily due to the requirement synergistic interactions with multiple units this polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. Moreover, increasing number groups in a single chemical structure while avoiding cost flexibility has been scarcely explored. Herein, we report synthesis family Ru(II)-polypyridyl complexes bearing up six arranged by pairs, offering total three molecular tweezers. All them are fixed central atom and organized an octahedral structure. Their capabilities have thoroughly demonstrated toward C60 C70 showing that they can reasonably accommodate fullerenes per host noncooperative manner. There are, however, some features diverge from comparable literature, such as low value several association constants. This behavior, supported theoretical studies, is attributed presence two noninnocent BAr4F anions interfere supramolecular binding through ion pair formation. These findings highlight crucial role selecting compatible ionic species design significantly influence process.
