Abstract Cr 3+ ‐activated near‐infrared (NIR) phosphors have attracted wide attention owing to applications in phosphor‐converted light‐emitting diodes (pc‐LED) for spectroscopy. Because a broader spectrum covers more information detect, the width of is an important parameter consider. Here, blue LED excitable ultra‐broadband LiInGeO 4 phosphors, which exhibit unprecedented long‐wavelength NIR emission with full‐width at half maximum (FWHM) 305 nm, are developed. The overall tuning from 1165 875 nm broadened FWHM 508 realized through designing continuous solid solution hosts LiIn 1− z Sc GeO /(LiIn) y Mg 2 and finite (LiIn) Zn :Cr . observation such not 4+ studied confirmed by electron paramagnetic resonance, X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure, steady‐/transient‐state photoluminescence. formation solutions induces change local structure that ultimately leads super broadband (FWHM = nm) luminescence. luminescence mechanism discussed this study. Abstract Near‐infrared (NIR) phosphor‐converted light‐emitting diodes (pc‐LEDs) are an emerging light source demanded for the miniaturization of NIR spectroscopy. However, photoelectric efficiency and spectral properties pc‐LEDs still very limited due to a lack efficient broadband phosphors with peak emission wavelength >850 nm. Here, novel Cr 3+ ‐activated perovskite‐like Mg 4 Ta 2 O 9 phosphor is reported, which exhibits broad band peaking at 850 nm high internal (external) quantum 72% (33.4%). The fabricated pc‐LED shows covering whole 700–1100 spectrum range conversion 22.1% 10 mA. This work may provide new paradigm discovery singly doped excellent performance.

As a key material for phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (pc-LEDs) applications, broadband near-infrared (NIR) phosphors currently face poor thermal stability issues. In this work, we synthesized phosphor YGa3(BO3)4: Cr3+ (YGBO: Cr3+) with high stability. The YGBO: sample exhibits emission centered at 770 nm full width half-maximum (fwhm) of 2130 cm–1 under blue light excitation. Benefiting from the borate host crystal's strong structural rigidity, wide optical band gap, and weak electron–phonon coupling strength, demonstrates luminescence stability, corresponding intensity can maintain 80% 150 °C compared to room temperature. Furthermore, fabricated pc-LED device using chip phosphor, confirmed its application potential as source in spectral analysis fruit freshness.
