The Janus metastructure (JMS) is constructed in a special way so that the electromagnetic waves (EWs) propagate artificially from different directions, which can show characteristics and present variety of functions at same time. Its research great significance for breaking through development bottleneck traditional single-scale single-function devices serve numerous novel application scenarios. This review discusses design progress JMS three aspects: construction method, function realization, scenario. Finally, we discuss key challenges currently facing offer vision future directions. We sincerely hope this will not only provide new insights into JMS, promising dynamic hot area but also promote more diverse comprehensive perspective.
