Abstract Water polluted by toxic chemicals due to waste from chemical/pharmaceuticals and harmful microbes such as E. Coli bacteria causes several fatal diseases; therefore, water filtration is crucial for accessing clean safe necessary good health. Conventional technologies include activated carbon filters, reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration. However, they face challenges, including high energy consumption, fouling, limited selectivity, inefficiencies in removing certain contaminants, dimensional control of pores, structural/chemical changes at higher thermal conditions upon prolonged usage filter. Recently, the advent 2D materials graphene, BN, MoS 2 , MXenes, so on opens new avenues advanced systems. This review delves into nanoarchitectonics applications. The current state explored, inherent challenges are outlines, unique properties advantages highlighted. Furthermore, scope this discussed, which encompasses synthesis, characterization, application various filtration, providing insights future research directions potential industrial
