Microplastics (MPs) are an increasingly concerning type of environmental pollutant due to their abundance and the potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic food organisms. The presence MPs natural waters is a clear indication incorrect disposal plastic debris rapid growth synthetic production. An inclusive understanding sources, transportation, fate, consequences waste crucial accurately estimating global transit pollution reducing its sources hazards. Bangladesh significant contributor pollution, this review aims summarize existing knowledge research gap on MP ecosystems over past five years. This article discusses features, occurrence, hazardous effects organisms humans provide innovative approaches sustainable remediation. It emphasizes importance multidisciplinary approach inputs into environment, including regulation production consumption plastics, using bio-based biodegradable improving plastics life cycle, eco-friendly design production, extended producer accountability management, prioritizing recycling, creating demand recycled collection management systems. study purposes further Bangladesh, explore environmentally friendly substitutes, decision-makers with effective strategies address problem Bangladesh.

The complex aquatic system of dam reservoirs is known to trap emerging pollutants as microplastics (MPs) in sediments and water column. Considering the knowledge gaps this type environment, we investigated amount distribution MPs surface layer, well deep Siriu Reservoir Buzău River system, which located southern area Eastern Carpathians, Romania. There was a discrepancy between MP abundancy both sediment samples collected near reservoir (5.3 MPs/m3, 315.5 MPs/kg) at several kilometers downstream (1.4 132.5 MPs/kg). chronological accumulation lacustrine determined by analyzing 5 cm intervals 50 length core extracted from bed. By comparing concentration identified each interval with solid debit volumes registered last decade, found that flood events could be traced easily due abundant accumulation. Morphologically, particles were observed mainly fibers fragments. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-iR) investigations most polypropylene (28%), polyethylene (26%), terephthalate (19%).

Abstract Microplastics (particles smaller than 5 mm) are among the most common pollutants in aquatic habitats because they may develop to high densities and can interact with both abiotic biotic environments. There is less information available on microplastics freshwater systems there marine environment. This study aims shed light abundance spatial distribution of Brahmaputra River (Mymensingh) through utilization wet peroxide oxidation isolation technique, supplemented sodium chloride, examine fish sediment specimens collected between December 21, 2022 January 12, 2023. A total 26 189 microplastic particles were identified samples, respectively. (MPs) concentrations gut ranged from 0.5 ± 0.7 1.67 0.58 MPs individual −1 . The prevalent shape found stomachs was fiber (46%), color transparent (32%).
