An effect of Mg introduction on efficiency high-loaded nickel catalysts in dehydrogenation decahydroquinoline (10HQ) was investigated. 10HQ is key process for the liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) storage technology using quinoline/10HQ pair as H2-lean/H2-rich substrates. influence synthesis technique Ni/Mg/Al their properties has been demonstrated. The were synthesized through coprecipitation Ni, Mg, Al precursors to obtain layered double hydroxides (LDH) or via (∼72 wt%) Ni-Al2O3 system – also coprecipitation, followed by modifying with a magnesium-containing precursor. For first series, inclusion magnesium into LDH lattice led significant increase catalytic activity extraction (10HQ reaction). Despite decrease content catalytically active nickel, yield product observed. This regularity presumably associated appearance basic sites, that accelerates reaction. In case second pre-reduced (600 °C, H2) significantly depends MgO and maximal at Mg:Ni weight ratio 0.056. Using an in-depth study structure original reduced catalyst samples (Ni-Al2O3 Ni-MgNiOx-Al2O3), it shown this increased resistance Ni particles agglomeration during reductive activation. Also, Ni-MgNiOx-Al2O3 (hydrogenation reaction), possibility deep quinoline hydrogenation (up 10HQ) flow-type reactor demonstrated time.
