In recent years, organic chemists have taken a resolute step toward green photocatalytic synthesis. this regard, the oxidation of compounds with molecular oxygen is one most important classes transformations, as it increases complexity while avoiding use toxic and harmful oxidants. To aim, development new efficient photocatalysts capable driving valuable oxidative reactions in sustainable manner highly desirable. These novel systems need to be metal-free, easy-to-prepare, potentially recyclable. Carbon nitride (CN) fulfils all these requirements because its outstanding physicochemical properties, thus emerging promising heterogeneous platform. The growing popularity material also substantiated by fast facile preparation from readily available inexpensive precursors. This Review aims at highlighting advances synthesis carbon nitride-based materials their applications photocatalysis for molecules presence oxygen. Lastly, forward-looking opportunities within intriguing research field are mentioned.
