Elaborated molecular architectures, specifically those containing a 2-aminophenoxazinone scaffold, belong to one of the most ubiquitous and prominent classes heterocyclic frameworks, going from natural products biologically active pharmaceutical molecules agrochemicals functional materials polymers. Therefore, efficient synthetic strategies for assembly frameworks are always in demand have gained attention academic industrial communities. Methodologies that involve cascade reactions generally catalyzed by transition metal complexes, such as iron, cobalt, manganese, copper, zinc stood out representative approach. Over past few decades, great deal versatile, atom-economic, straightforward protocols been reported generation value-added sustainable, powerful, applicable manner. The state-of-the-art methodologies toward construction skeletons summarized this review, which could be divided into four categories: (1) compounds complexes; (2) biosynthetic enzymes; (3) process routes compounds; (4) via other innovative methods.

We report a combined experimental and theoretical magneto-structural study of four heterometallic isostructural complexes: [Ni2Mn2(L)2(OAc)2{N(CN)2}]·5H2O (1), [Ni2Mn2(L)2(OAc)2(N3)2]·MeCN (2), [Ni2Mn2(L)2(OAc)2(NCS)2]·H2O (3), [Ni2Co2(L)2(OAc)2(NCS)2]·4H2O (4). These complexes were synthesized using compartmental Schiff base ligand, N,N'-bis(3-methoxy-5-methylsalicylidene)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-diaminopropane (H2L), various pseudohalide ions. X-ray crystallography reveals cubane-like structures featuring {Ni2M2(μ3-O)4} (M = Mn or Co) core. The NiII centers invariably exhibit octahedral geometry, while MnII CoII ions adopt hepta-coordinated pentagonal bipyramidal geometries. Magnetic studies, ab initio calculations, BS-DFT analyses reveal competing ferromagnetic (FM) antiferromagnetic (AFM) exchange interactions. via an additional μ-O,O'-acetate ligand is FM, contrasting with mostly AFM interactions through the two μ3-O bridges. in 1-4 display moderate easy-plane single-ion anisotropy, complex 4 uniquely features easy-axis anisotropy DCo ≈ -23 cm-1. Moreover, field-induced slow magnetic relaxation was observed 4, governed by direct process. Notably, this first Ni2Mn2 cubane structure, only one prior example Ni2Co2 literature. Thus, uncovers properties rare systems highlighting as unique case significant magnetization relaxation, enriching molecular magnetism landscape.
