Abstract
Flexible
Metal‐Organic
Frameworks
(FL‐MOFs)
are
emerging
advanced
materials
with
the
ability
to
respond
various
stimuli
by
adapting
their
structure
and
pore.
In
particular,
FL‐MOFs
based
on
rare‐earth
(RE)
elements
offer
a
unique
sophisticated
approach
towards
truly
novel
responsive
properties.
This
Concept
article
provides
an
overview
of
main
principles
factors
that
affect
structural
features
in
RE‐FL‐MOFs,
identifying
trends
exploring
potential
rational
design
strategies.
Common
challenges
possible
future
research
directions
also
discussed.
