An efficient method for construction of various fluorenones has been achieved via Rh(III)-catalyzed C–H activation/[4 + 2] annulation/aromatization sequences simple and readily available enaminones 1,3-dienes. This protocol showed good substrate compatibility as an array structurally electronically diverse prepared efficiently in moderate to yields preparative scale utility showing very efficiency the late-stage functionalization complex valuable molecules.

Abstract A novel method has been developed for the synthesis of fused dihydroisoquinoline frameworks through a Rh(III)‐catalyzed annulation 3‐aryl‐2 H ‐benzo[ e ][1,2,4]thiadiazine‐1,1‐dioxides with vinylene carbonates by C−H bond activation. This is first report on oxidative functionalization aryl‐2 ][1,2,4]thiadiazine‐1,1‐dioxide carbonate to afford angularly heterocycles in good yields high functional group tolerance. In this approach, acts as glycolaldehyde surrogate construct ring systems.

Herein, we disclose the first reports on utilization of vinylene carbonate as a C1 methylene source in ruthenium-catalyzed additive controlled regioselective C4-methylenation and weak chelation-assisted C8-formylmethylation isoquinolinones. Adopting both C2 synthon is an important highlight this work. Amide carbonyl acts traceless directing group C8-formylmethylation. Remarkably, reaction, two C-C bonds form one-pot producing dimeric isoquinolinones by employing surrogate presence copper acetate additive.
