A novel skeletal editing of benzodithiol-3-ones via swapping from S atom to C–O entities is developed herein, which provides a robust route assemble benzo[ d ][1,3]oxathiin-4-ones in decent yields by utilizing aldehydes as cyclization partners.

Benzo[d]isothiazol-3(2H)-one and benzo[e][1,3]thiazin-4-one derivatives, as significant sulfur- nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds, are prevalent in natural products, pharmaceuticals, food items. In recent years, a variety of innovative synthetic methodologies for these compounds have been developed. this review, we will comprehensively introduce the major advances synthesis benzo[d]isothiazol-3(2H)-one derivatives via both intramolecular intermolecular pathways from 2012 to present.
