Abstract Photoluminescent carbon dots (CDs) have greatest potential in fluorescence sensing, energy, bioimaging and environmental pollutant sensing. Heteroatom doping dramatically enhanced fluorescent properties stability of CDs. In this work, sulfur doped (DCDs) using jaggery as precursor through direct heating method at 180 °C. The synthesized DCDs were characterized XRD, FTIR, XPS, TEM, Fluorescence UV‐Visible spectroscopic techniques. 9 nm particle size with amorphous nature surface decorated −OH, C−S, C=O functional groups on because contribution major element like C, O, S elements. showing bright blue emission having 360 excitation 460 wavelength. Further, the employed for metal ion sensing it selectively detects Fe 3+ 1.92 μg/mL detection 5.84 limit quantification. experiment follows static quenching mechanism which is confirmed by life time experiment. This low‐cost, effective sensitive application pollution control, biomedical forensic applications.

This work demonstrates the facile one step hydrothermal synthesis of carbon dots doped with nitrogen and sulfur (SCDs). The have various uses, including their use as molecular payloads for antioxidant drug delivery purposes. sizes CDs were determined using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), which revealed an average size 4.2 nm. successful doping was confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy X-ray photoelectron (XPS), identified typical functional groups elemental composition. UV-vis photoluminescence (PL) a wide absorption peak at 280 nm pronounced blue emission 440 Colloidal stability dynamic light scattering (DLS) zeta potential analysis. characteristics evaluated through paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, notable ability to scavenge radicals more than 80% radical scavenging capability. SCDs also showed nontoxic behavior against living cells. findings emphasize in fields bioimaging, delivery, potent agents.
