Hypervalent iodine(III) compounds have found wide application in modern organic chemistry as environmentally friendly reagents and catalysts. iodine are commonly used synthetically important halogenations, oxidations, aminations, heterocyclizations, various oxidative functionalizations of substrates. Iodonium salts arylating reagents, while iodonium ylides imides excellent carbene nitrene precursors. Various derivatives benziodoxoles, such azidobenziodoxoles, trifluoromethylbenziodoxoles, alkynylbenziodoxoles, alkenylbenziodoxoles group transfer the presence transition metal catalysts, under metal-free conditions, or using photocatalysts photoirradiation conditions. Development hypervalent catalytic systems discovery highly enantioselective reactions chiral represent a particularly recent achievement field chemistry. Chemical transformations promoted by many cases unique cannot be performed any other common, non-iodine-based reagent. Photoreactions of (coumarin-4-yl)methyl derivatives have been extensively studied in many fields chemistry, including organic synthesis and photoinduced drug delivery systems. The identification the reaction intermediates involved photoreactions is crucial not only for elucidating mechanism but also application photoreactions. In this study, 7-diethylamino(coumarin-4-yl)methyl thioester 1a [−SC(O)CH3], thionoester 1b [−OC(S)CH3], ester 1c [−OC(O)CH3] were investigated to clarify intermediary species their chemical behavior. While a radical pair [i.e., CH3C(O)S•] plays an important role 1b, ion cation, CH3CO2–] was key photoreaction 1c. 18O-isotope-labeling revealed negligible recombination process within pair. unprecedented observation rationalized by open-shell character whose formation confirmed through product analysis transient absorption spectroscopy.

Abstract The catalytic three‐component radical carboamination of alkenes has recently emerged as an alternative and robust platform for the rapid construction diverse valuable amines. Despite great advances in this field, new methods that enable highly selective access to chemical space surrounding amine functional groups are still high demand. Herein, we report a generally applicable visible light‐induced copper‐catalyzed cyanoalkylamination reaction alkenes, oxime carbonates, benzoyloxycarbamates. This protocol demonstrates chemo‐selectivity, broad substrate scope, good group tolerance, providing variety cyanoalkylated aliphatic amines with yields.

Abstract Phenols play a crucial role as core structural motifs in natural products and also serve fundamental building blocks synthetic chemistry. Apart from the known protocols for conversion of aryl precursors to phenols (i. e., decarboxylative oxygenation), we report here efficient synthesis stable readily available benzylic carboxylic acids under mild reaction conditions. The photocatalytic peroxides is step this strategy, allowing subsequent C−O bond formation via Hock rearrangement.
