Superatoms are special clusters with similar physicochemical properties to individual atoms in the periodic table, which open up new avenues for exploring inexpensive catalysts. Given that ZrO superatom possesses same number of valence electrons as a Pd atom, mechanisms Suzuki-Miyaura reaction catalyzed by (ZrO)

Multipalladium clusters possess peculiar structures and synergistic effects for reactivity selectivity. Herein, C3-symmetric tripalladium (1, 0.5 mol %) afford C2-regioselective SMCC of 2,4-dibromopyridine with phenylboronic acids or pinacol esters (C2:C4 up to 98:1), in contrast Pd(OAc)2 ligand-free conditions. In addition, similar C2-selectivity was achieved Sonogashira, Negishi, Kumada coupling reactions. This method highlights their powerful catalytic ability, exclusive C2-selectivity, broad substrate scope, efficient amplification, multiple ligand-exchange feasibility demonstrates that the conventional sites could be successfully regulated even reversed by catalysts.

We report the synthesis and solid-state characterization of two unusual Pd2Zn2 clusters formed from partial reduction [PdL2Cl2] precursors (L2 = dcpe or dppe) with metallic zinc. The new have been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction contain a Pd2Zn2Cl3 core capped chelating phosphine ligands Zn in formal +1.5 oxidation state. While they possess near tetrahedral arrangement metal ions, calculations bonding analysis (NBO, AIM) suggest that there is limited Zn- - -Zn these species. Characterization solution state suggestive dynamic behavior on dissolution, both diamagnetic paramagnetic species observed NMR EPR spectroscopy. One was shown to be an effective precursor for homocoupling aryl bromide.

Abstract Small‐sized palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs) are highly active nanocatalysts and have attracted great interest for many years. However, preparing size‐controllable PdNPs is still challenging. Here, ultrafine air‐stable PdNPs‐1/2 (2.0 ± 0.3/1.2 0.4 nm) stabilized by multiple nucleophilic ligands (phosphines, thiols, anions) were prepared, their sizes could be successfully regulated simply varying anionic (SbF 6 − or BF 4 ). We further investigated catalytic activities compared them with identically ligated tri‐palladium clusters [Pd 3 ] + ‐1/2 . These homogeneous presented superior both the Suzuki–Miyaura cross‐coupling (SMCC) 4‐nitrophenol reduction reactions. The PdNPs‐1 exhibited highest activity reactions good applicability to different substrates, reaction rate constant reached 1.10 × 10 −2 S −1 reduction. results revealed that employment of significantly affects size synergistic activities. This work will open possibilities controllable size, dispersity, stability a broad range applications.
