Shortwave infrared (SWIR)-emitting materials have emerged as superior light sources with increasing demand for potential applications in noninvasive analysis, night vision illumination, and medical diagnosis. For developing next-generation SWIR phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (pc-LEDs), the scarcity of intense blue-light-pumped broadband luminescent poor thermal stability current Ni2+-activated phosphors are ongoing challenges. Here, a blue-light-excitable (440 nm) Y3Al2Ga3O12:Cr3+,Ni2+ phosphor ultrawide emission centered at ∼1430 nm (FWHM ∼264 is reported. The efficient Cr3+ → Ni2+ energy transfer exploited remarkable enhancement 18-fold under blue-light excitation. Significantly, excellent (90% 440 K) band obtained codoped which best among reported phosphors. Besides, experimental techniques (XANES EXAFS) density functional theory calculations employed to investigate local structure propose [GaO6] octahedrons favorable occupation sites Ni2+/Cr3+ ions. A pc-LED fabricated using blue chip proof concept invisible illumination technology, nondestructive spectroscopic anticounterfeiting, imaging applications. This work offers effective insights into transfer-assisted presents thermally robust Cr3+-Ni2+-codoped designing future mini-SWIR pc-LEDs spectroscopy
