Abstract
Photocatalytic
water
splitting
is
capable
of
converting
abundant
solar
energy
into
environmentally
friendly
and
renewable
chemical
energy,
presenting
a
promising
solution
to
alleviate
the
crisis
combat
environmental
pollution.
The
development
high‐performance
photocatalysts
crucial
for
significantly
improving
efficiency
hydrogen
evolution
reaction
(HER)
involved.
Polyoxometalate
(POM)‐derived
materials,
known
their
tunable
compositions,
diverse
structures,
electron
storage/release
capabilities,
as
well
quasi‐semiconductor
photochemical
properties,
serve
highly
efficient
catalysts
in
sustainable
photosynthesis.
This
comprehensive
review
navigates
latest
advancements
assembly
strategies
HER
performance
POM‐based
crystalline
materials.
It
also
discusses
composite
materials
formed
by
infiltrating
POM
metal‐organic
frameworks
(MOF)
examines
roles
transition
metal
compounds
derived
from
polyoxometalates,
such
sulfides
carbides,
photocatalytic
HER.
Emphasis
placed
on
prospects
future
photocatalysts,
along
with
several
outlooks
that
could
facilitate
progress.
POM‐derived
are
believed
have
significant
potential
enhance
production
while
maintaining
thermal
stability
processes.
