Foliar application of melatonin shows promise in alleviating oxidative stress rice, though its influence on metal-nutrient dynamics remains unclear. This study investigated the optimal dosage, timing, and concentration for regulating elemental uptake, maintaining redox homeostasis, managing nutrient rice cultivated cadmium (Cd) selenium (Se)-enriched soils. Melatonin (50, 200 µM) was applied at vegetative stages: jointing (J) tillering (T). At J stage, improved biomass photosynthetic pigments but inadequately regulated due to incomplete homeostasis. However, applying µM during T stage significantly (p < 0.05) enhanced Se iron (Fe) root uptake by 48% 11%, respectively, while also improving shoot translocation. Notably, M200 reduced chromium (Cr) translocation shoots 82% 0.05), thereby increasing retention capacity. Additionally, 50 Cd 54% increased 53% toxicity enhancing detoxification response aerial tissues. markers, proline levels, antioxidative enzyme activities, with showing pronounced effects. strategy represents a promising technological approach homeostasis cultivation.
