This study reported the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) using Cucurbita pepo L. seed extract and explored their multifunctional properties such as anti-corrosion, photocatalytic, adsorption capabilities. The synthesized NPs were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to identify functional groups, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) assess thermal stability, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning with energy-dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX) determine size, morphology, elemental composition. characterization biofabricated revealed an average particle size 32.88 nm; however, SEM displayed a tendency for particles agglomerate. Furthermore, diffraction (XRD) EDX confirmed ZnO, matching patterns in literature. In this study, potential biogenic was applications. Zinc oxide exhibited higher capacity adsorbing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) compared bulk zinc oxide, mostly because larger surface area. addition, electrochemical studies demonstrated substantial enhancement corrosion resistance mild steel 1.0 M HCl solution. also remarkable photodegradation effectiveness, reducing 75% methyl orange 60 min under sun-light irradiation. implies that they could be used remediate organic pollutants (organic dyes) from wastewater.
