Abstract The integration of two kinds NLO‐active genes, particularly organic π‐conjugated and inorganic polyhedral groups, is conducive to construct excellent nonlinear optical (NLO) materials. Based on this inspiration, an NLO crystal, namely (4‐AMP)CdBr 4 ·H 2 O (4‐AMP = 4‐(Aminomethyl)pyridine), constructed via the combining new gene (C 6 H 10 N ) 2+ distorted tetrahedron (CdBr 2− . This compound with 0D structure that belongs non‐centrosymmetric P2 1 space group grown by solution evaporation method. Notably, second harmonic generation (SHG) response (≈1.5 × KDP), suitable large birefringence (≈0.158@546 nm) short ultraviolet (UV) absorption cutoff edge (≈226 O, indicate its potentiality as a UV birefringent crystal. Theoretical calculations structural analysis demonstrate convincingly SHG behavior anisotropy are mainly attributed interactive effect groups tetrahedrons. Intriguingly, presents thermal‐activated reversibly PL switching, further graphic patterns for anti‐counterfeiting designed achieve information encryption. work not merely demonstrates novel multi‐functional optoelectronic but provides perspective in constructing metal halide
